There was a big bright ball of light in the sky yesterday. I hadn’t seen it in awhile, so it was a little confusing. I’m told there are places in the world that you can see this phenomenon almost every day. Michigan is not one of those places. I love Michigan for many, many reasons, but the lack of light in the winter months is enough to drive one a little batty. No offense to bats. I love bats…Luckily, there are food, books, and general geekery to keep me on top of my game.
We’ve had a couple of Star Wars posts already. Feel free to revisit them here and here. We have not, however, addressed The Force Awakens. Mostly because I still have a lot of feelings about it…the new trio of Finn, Poe, and Rey are really terrific and I can’t wait to see how their stories develop. Of course, most of the world fell in love with Rey, the feisty heroine, and her “portion” has become one of my most requested recipes. I plan on visiting this one a couple of times because I think there’s a lot of room for interpretation. For today, I’m starting with this take from Jenn Fujikawa at Just Jenn Recipes. I chose to make it for Sweet Saturday because it’s basically a matcha mug cupcake.
In my microwave it took a little over a minute to cook. It’s a dense, slightly sweet cake with a delicate flavor from the vanilla and matcha. You can find matcha on Amazon if you have trouble locating it in stores. Give it a try. It’s a fun recipe that even your youngest padawans could help make!
